Dr. Paul Edwin Stech entered his Heavenly Reward on March 4, 2008 after a lengthy battle with pneumonia. He was born May 6, 1918 the oldest of three children to Robert and Dorothy Stech in Wapakoneta, Ohio. He was married to Mary in 1941 and after the war they immigrated to California with their son George and Daughter Patricia, eventually making their home in Manhattan Beach in 1961. Paul was an active member of American Martyrs Parish beginning as an usher at the 8 am Sunday morning mass for many years. When the Eucharistic Minister program started, Msgr. Deegan asked him to become one and was approved by Bishop Manning and became one of the first Eucharistic Ministers at American Martyrs church.
Those who will miss him the most will be his wife Mary of 66 years, his son George (Kathy) and Daughter Patricia (James) and grandchildren: Jennifer and Michael Stech, and Nicole, Eric and Thomas Lovejoy; his many relatives in Ohio and Germany and his wonderful friends in Manhattan Beach and all around California. Everyone whose life he touched will miss him. He was one in a million. We love you. Enjoy working with St. Anthony Dad!
