

Efren Gonzalez was a beloved father, grandfather, friend, and husband whom passed away on Saturday November 28, 2020 in Lawndale, CA. Efren passed away at age 58. He was born in Villanueva, Zacatecas, Mexico, to parents José Angel Gonzalez Mata and Maria de los Angeles Esparza.
Efren will always be remembered by friends and family as someone caring, loving, and humble. He loved spending time with family and friends and always kept in touch, no matter the distance. He is remembered as a jokester and someone who would do the impossible to bring out a smile and a laugh. He had a big heart and always helped those in need, whether it was monetarily or by lending an ear.
In life, Efren had two passions: music and cooking. He loved to listen to music, sing, and mostly write ranchera music. Music was an important outlet for creativity, relaxation, and artistry. Although he loved music, his second passion was food. Most of his life he worked as a chef. From 1989-1998, he was the owner and head chef of Rio Grande Mexican restaurant in Hermosa Beach, CA. In this industry, he strived to serve the most delicious and authentic Mexican food to the South Bay community.
Efren will be missed dearly by those who encountered him in life. Efren is survived by his children Brittany, Richard Alen, and Edlin Gonzalez. In Mexico, he is survived by his wife Mariana Bautista Muro and children Fabiola, Nancy Alejandra, Socorro, Pepe, and Luis Alberto Bautista Muro.
