Ester Calderon was born on July 30, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas to Jesse and Dolores Siller. The family eventually moved from Texas to Los Angeles, California when she was still young. After a while, they found their home on 95th Street.
Ester attended Bret Harte Junior High School and graduated from Washington High School. After graduating, she married her high school sweetheart, Jose Calderon. Ester and Jose had two children, Denise and Francisco Calderon.
Ester loved taking care of her grandkids, Brandon and Amber. She would make them the best dinners, like steak, potatoes, and salad. She loved going to Frank’s house so she could spend days with Hannah.
Ester was a big fan of Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash. But her favorite activity was going to the casino. Pechanga, Morango, Viejas, it didn’t matter, she loved them all. She loved to say, “Ching, ching, ching!” while pretending to pull the slot lever.
On May 16, 2023, Ester passed away after becoming ill. She is survived by her children Denise and Frank, son-in-law Al, daughter-in-law Monica, and her grandkids Brandon, Amber, and Hannah, as well as her sister Anita Smith.
