Ruggiero, Florence Isabel, a 5 year resident of Torrance, CA passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2011 in Torrance, CA. Born in Hiteman, Monroe County, Iowa, in 1908, Florence was 103 when she died. She grew up in Illinois, where, as a child, she survived the 1918 influenza pandemic. She moved to the West Coast during WWII, where she married and raised her family. She lived for many years in both San Diego and Seattle. Her dearest wish was to be a mother, and she was the best. She also spent many hours volunteering at her kids' schools, as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, and for various Christian and other charitable organizations. She worked as manager for Mugs' Antiques, in Pike Place Market, in Seattle, for 35 years. Florence is survived by daughter Rebekka Bradford of Seattle, WA; sons Gary (Ruthann) Ruggiero of Torrance, CA, and Rod Ruggiero (Jada) of Honolulu, HI; and her 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy, her parents, Charles and Isabel Rounds, and her 4 sisters and 2 brothers. The Service will be held at Rice Mortuary on February 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Burial will be private.
