Frankie passed away after a long, courageous battle with diabetes. He is survived by Terri, his wife of 31 years; stepson Matt, stepdaughter Kasey: grandchildren Jacob, Andrew, Michael, and Nicole; brother Felipe; sister Vera; nieces Ramona, Veronica, Arianna, Paulina, and Danielle; and nephews Roberto, Henry B, Andres Jr., and Henry V.
He was born in Hanford, California to Francisco and Rafaela Vargas and graduated from San Fernando HS in 1975. He worked in the aerospace industry for 36 years at Hughes Aircrafts and The Boeing Company, retiring in 2011.
He loved Boxing and was co-founder of “Frankie’s Fight Night”, a group of treasured friends who gathered at his home to watch boxing matches, eat, drink, laugh, tell stories, and discuss the pros and cons of each boxer, referee, announcer, trainer, and boxing venue.
He was a generous man with a heart of gold who also loved old cars and trucks, old slot machines, watches, 60’s music, and Diet Mountain Dew. But most of all he loved his family and although he never had kids of his own, his step-children, nieces and nephews were treasured and loved unconditionally. Recognizing this love of children, he was asked to godfather six kids and he was proud of each and every one of them…Eric, Maryann, Kristin, Henry B, Andres Jr, and Destiny. He was overjoyed to watch as his extended family grew with the addition of a grand-nephew and grand-niece. He recently found out that two more were on the way and was hoping against hope that he would last long enough to meet them.
He is preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Rafaela, and brothers Henry and Andres Sr. Rest in peace, Frankie. We will love and miss you forever and you will be remembered in stories told for years to come.
