Perkins, Gerald Ray a long time resident of Inglewood, CA passed away on August 13, 2008 in West Los Angeles, CA. Ray was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 25, 1924 and has resided in the Los Angeles area for the last 80 years.
Ray served with the Navy in the Pacific Fleet during World War II. He then worked 35 years for Standard Oil in El Segundo, CA.
Ray was an avid music listener and an expert at the LA Times crossword puzzle "in pen".
He was a devoted father and grandfather and a fan of whatever sports his children or grandchildren played.
Ray is survived by his brother Wes and his sons Jeffrey, Michael, Russell, daughter Sherrie, 8 loving grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife Patricia, mother Edna Mae, father Henry, and sister Evelyn.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2008 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Rice Mortuary in Torrance, CA with funeral services on Monday, August 18, 2008 from 2:00 P.M. also at Rice Mortuary Chapel.
