Helen was born in Winnebago County, Illinois to William Andrew Sullivan and Alice Sarah Fannan Sullivan. She had one older brother William Sullivan and one younger sister Mary Lu Sullivan May, all deceased.
Helen graduated from Muldoon High School in Rockford, Illinois. She married James Anthony Vogel on January 17, 1942, who preceded her in death in 2002 after 60 years of marriage. She has two daughters - Alice Mary Vogel and Janet Vogel Wakefield, a son in law - Donald Roderick Wakefield and three grandchildren - Tracy Wakefield Bebb, Christopher James Wakefield and Roderick Michael Wakefield. She also is survived by one nephew Michael Sullivan and three nieces Carole Sullivan Giacomazzo, Margret Sullivan Roland, Kelly May Fisher and many great nieces and great nephews.
Helen has had a life long love of reading and the theater. She has acted on the radio, in plays, television and commercials. She was a member of SAG, AFTRA, ANTA-WEST, Catholic Actors Guild, Commercials Unlimited, and a long time member of "Read and Review" and "Round Table West" Book Clubs. She was a member of St. Johns Altar Society and Senior Citizen Group.
Helen was a quiet Lady with a quaint sense of humor. She was also very generous and was a constant contributor to the Heart of the Nation Televised Sunday Mass and many other charities of people and animals.
On the Eve of Pentecost, Saturday, June 3, 2006 the Holy Spirit called her home. She will be greatly missed.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at McCormick Inglewood Chapel on Friday, June 9, 2006 from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. A funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow with procession to Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, CA.
