
Busby, James D., a ten year resident of Torrance, passed away on Monday, July 23, 2007. Born in Henderson, Ky, James was 89 when he died. James had served in the Marines during World War ll as a Gunnery Sgt. James enjoyed his life long passion of ocean fishing aboard his vessel ( The Jim B ). The Jim B was well recognized because Dad was out every Saturday rain or shine. Dad's motto was "why be sick at home when I can be sick on the boat and catch fish." Dad stayed true to his motto to the bitter end as his last great feat was to reel in a 280lb Halibut in Alaska on June 25, 2007. He was an extraordinary man who lived an amazing life right to the end and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his son Greg (Diana) Busby of Redondo Beach, Ca, 2 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Barbara Busby, Mother, Irene Busby, Father, Jesse Busby.
A gathering of family & friends will be held at White & Day Colonial Mortuary in Redondo Beach on Friday July 27, 2007 from 6 to 9pm. The service will be held at the mortuary on Saturday at 11am followed by a reception in the Colonial Lighthouse Reception Room. Burial will follow at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood.
