
Larson, James Carl, born November 13, 1926 in San Francisco, CA passed away peacefully on February 17, 2002 at 12:37 A.M. During his last moments he was surrounded by all of his family at his home in Hermosa Beach. Born to Swedish immigrants, Carl and Olga Larson, Jim lived in Los Angeles and excelled in football and baseball at Dorsey Hight School. He served as a radio operator in the United States Navy, Pacific Fleet during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945. He attended Southwestern University in Los Angeles under the G.I. Bill and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree. He worked for Mobil Oil Corporation for 17 years, then joined Computax Corporation in 1965 where he was a key element to the success of Computax, a pioneer and leader in the computerized income tax industry in the 1970's and 1980's. He retired in 1987. A loving husband to Janice for 46 years, Jim and Janice lived in Alhambra from 1950 until 1973. They raised two sons, Scott and Dan, and were active in Alhambra Little League and supporters of Alhambra High School Athletics. He was the best father to Scott and Dan, and a fantastic grandfather. Jim is survived by Jo, his wife of 5 years, with whom he enjoyed traveling and loving their children: Scott, Sue, Dan, Barbara, Steve, Debby, Karen and Mike; along with his twelve beloved grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, February 21st at 1:00 PM at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd.
