James Munro Riewer

Riewer, James M., a 32 year resident of Redondo Beach , passed away on Monday, April 15, 2002 in a local hospital. Born in Long Beach, California, Jim was 81 when he died. A classically trained musician, he served in the Army during WWII and then graduated from Northwestern University and went on to USC for graduate studies in education. . He was Superintendent of the Antelope Valley Joint Union High School and Superintendent of the South Bay Union High School District for nine years. Jim was past president of the Antelope Valley Kiwanis Club , the Redondo/Riviera Rotary Club , the the Board of Directors of the South Bay Hospital District.and the LA County Human Relations Commission. Jim had a lifelong love for the sea and was an avid boater and diver. He was very active in the South Bay serving on many volunteer and community organizations. He is survived by his wife, LaVerne and a daughter Mary Riewer of Phoenix , AZ. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, April 26, 2002, at the Church of Religious Science in Redondo Beach. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
