John J Barrett

Born in Novato, California, John was 80 when he died. John had served in the Navy during WWII. John was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and had been a teacher for over 30 years.

Left to mourn his passing is his sister, Mary Kelly; brother-in-law Andy Shields; nieces Maureen (Mike) Durkin, Sue (Desi) Harty and Judy Shields; great-niece, Megan Harty and great-nephews Brian and Rory Harty; cousins Billy, Tommy and Pat McMonagle along with many loving second cousins who always remembered to include him. John was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Barrett; his sister, Sara Shields and his cousins, Jim, Joe and Rosemary McMonagle.

A gathering of family & friends will be held Sunday, March 19 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McMillan & McCormick Mortuary, 1016 W. 164th Street in Gardena with Rosary Services beginning at 7:30 PM in the Mortuary Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 20 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1050 W. 163rd St. in Gardena. A reception will follow from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the Mortuary's Reception Room. Cremation with private graveside services will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
