John Trevor Christ

A long time resident of the South Bay passed away peacefully in his home on October 9, 2007. He was 60 years old. John was the son of John and Jeannette Christ. He is survived by his sister Ann Keup and brother-in-law, Tim; twin nephews John and Kevin, niece Jennifer and 3 great nieces and nephews. Upon graduating from Pacific Palisades High School in 1966, John was drafted into the U.S. Air Force and served one tour in Vietnam. Once the boys of his unit found out the spelling of his last name they were quick to appoint him the Chaplain because they felt safe with him around. Since Vietnam he has lived his life to the fullest filling every free minute with surfing , mountain biking and the preservation of the coast and bike paths. Anything that was outdoors was his love. John worked as an independent contractor for GC Aero for 10 years, a company he loved. Through them he met and spent some of his best times with the friends he worked with.

On Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 1:00 PM there will be a celebration of his life on the sand at Avenue C in Redondo Beach. Friends will paddle out for the scattering of his ashes. Please bring your wetsuits and surf boards if you would like to participate. A reception will follow at the Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd. in Torrance.
