

Juanita Marie Harrison was born November 21, 1930 to Claudia Wagner and Rudolph Johnson in Alexandria, Louisiana. She was an only child. She was raised by her grandmother Katie W. Coleman until she left Louisiana in 1946 to stay with her mother in Los Angeles, CA. There she attended Manual Arts High School.
She married Harvey D. Culberson and had three children from that marriage: Janice Renee, Harvey Delever ll and Rodney Gerard Culberson. She had three more children after she married Alvin L. Summers: Debra Lynn, Cheryl Denise and LaShaun Marie Summers. She later married Willie E. (Ray) Harrison on May 29, 1982.
She worked for Fernbacher Lobe in the garment district for 10 years. She then spent 12 years working for Robertshaw Controls in Long Beach. She retired from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after 13 years as a Patient Accounting Clerk.
She loved music (especially Jazz). Smokey Robinson was her favorite singer. She loved going to the Long Beach Jazz Festival, as well as other jazz festivals, and dancing to Marvin Gaye’s “Got to Give it Up.” She really loved traveling at every opportunity and went on many trips with her granddaughter Danón. She also enjoyed cruises, gardening, reading and movies.
She is survived by her children: Harvey (Ardell) Culberson and Rodney (Mabel) Culberson, Debra Jackson, Cheryl (Will) Minor and LaShaun Summers (Deron Taylor); 17 Grandchildren; 16 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Her husband Ray and her daughter Janice preceded her in death.
