

He was born September 21, 1933, in Seoul, Korea to Professor Chin-Hee Hahn who graduated from Meiji University Law School and Mrs. Ki-Jung Youn Hahn. Professor Chin Hee Hahn was a newspaper publisher and one of the founding fathers of Korean Democratic Party and the founder of the Korean Amateur Athletic Association and Korean Yudo (Judo) Association, he devoted his life toward teaching young Koreans. He held a 10th degree black belt in Judo.
Kenneth received the Seoul Mayoral Valedictorian Award for Kyo Dong Elementary School. Later he attended Kyung Gi High School in Seoul. Kenneth earned a fourth-degree black belt certified by the Korean Judo Association. He then entered the Korean Military Academy (KMA). At the age of nineteen, Kenneth was one of the youngest Captains in the Korean Army. He and his fellow cadets were the first class of the baccalaureate program for the KMA. At the onset of the Korean war, they were sent to the front line to defend their country where over one third lost their lives. Kenneth graduated from the Company Officer's Courses from United States Infantry School in Fort Benning, Georgia in 1953 and he graduated from Logistics and Quartermaster School in Fort Lee, Virginia in 1957. He was the Chief Operating Officer of the Infantry Regiment and served as the Battalion Commander. The KMA Alumni Association selected and recognized Kenneth and his KMA classmates as the proud and outstanding class of the KMA.
After his military service, Kenneth returned to the United States to study at USC. He received a BSBA in Management from USC and completed the Hospital Management and Organization program at UCLA. He completed graduate studies with the Managerial Policy Institute at USC and Advanced Management Program from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. He then received Sc D in Public Health from Sussex College of Technology.
Kenneth's professional career in the healthcare industry spans three decades of service in hospital and corporate management. He was president and CEO for a number of hospitals in the Southland including Sherman Oaks Hospital and Burn Center and CIGNA Hospital and Medical Center of Los Angeles. During his career he served as the Chairman of the Board of 11 acute care hospitals in Los Angeles and Riverside Counties including West Hills Regional Medical Center and John F Kennedy Memorial Hospital as Western Regional Director of American Medicorp Inc. Kenneth enjoyed his retirement years traveling the world with his wife of 50 years, Bernadette. He practiced his passion of photography during these adventures and has a large collection of photographs taken during numerous cruises to Alaska, Mexico, and Caribbean Island and trips to Canada, China, England, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Monte Carlo, Portugal, and Spain.
He was a loving father of three children, John, Robert and Janice, and loving husband of Bernadette Jung-In Hahn. He is survived by his children and five grandchildren. My father lived a devoted life with principal, diligence and honor. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
A visitation and vigil/rosary for Kenneth will be held Friday, August 29, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lighthouse Memorials & Receptions, 5310 Torrance Blvd, Torrance, California. The Funeral Mass will occur Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 12:30 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 244 Prospect Ave, Hermosa Beach, California, with the committal following on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 2:30 PM at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
