
LARRY ELDON CARNAHAN, a 53 year resident of Torrance, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2010 in Harbor City, at the age of 74 surrounded by his loving wife Mary Lou and family. He was born on October 8, 1935, a native of Ohio. Having grown up in what was then the small town of Greenville he enjoyed reminiscing about his boyhood adventures. After completing two years of college he removed to Los Angeles, CA. He obtained degrees at both UCLA and USC. Larry taught high school mathematics at Jordan High School and was an engineer at Northrop-Grumman. He always loved to sing and led the "original guitar group" at St. Catharine Laboure Church for over twenty years. After retirement he loved his garden, playing golf, and writing & producing children's plays. He along with his daughter, Charlene, wrote, produced, and directed two plays at Tulita School in Redondo Beach. Larry and Mary Lou were avid travelers making trips to Ireland and most countries in Europe. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Larry is survived by wife, Mary Lou (Martin) of Torrance, CA; mother, Mary Kathryn Carnahan of Palm Coast, FL; daughter, Katharine (Angel) Ayala of Murrieta, CA; daughter, Charlene (Patrick) Migliorini of Redondo Beach, CA; son, John (Veronica) Carnahan of Redondo Beach, CA; sisters Mary Ann Owens and Carol Perko, and nine grandchildren, Monique and Tony Ayala, Mary Kathryn, Hannah, Luke, and Andrew Migliorini, and Daniel, Sean, and Caeley Carnahan. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Leroy Carnahan. A gathering of family & friends will be held at White & Day Mortuary, in Manhattan Beach, on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Vigil Service will commence at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine Laboure Church on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 2:00 PM. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be private.
