A great life-long friend.  Through the years, we had many great adventures and experiences -- a lot filled with laughter and fun -- even more of them responsible for our parents premature grey hair.  I will never be able to look at a flat of pansy plants again without thinking of him.  I will really miss Larry a lot, but then won\'t we all.  To all of the Day family, you are the very best. Good by my dear friend I can never thank you for all the good memories. My prayer will be with the family this week.

My family and I are so appreciative of the sensitive, caring manner in which Capt. Larry Day conducted his Tribute business. He helped us scatter both my mother\'s and father\'s ashes and the experiences were beautiful. As a hospice chaplain I have the opportunity to talk with people about what kind of services they would like when they die. Just two days ago I shared the beauty of my parent\'s services with someone thinking about cremation and scattering. I mentioned how caring and lovely the Capt. of the boat was and what a good experience it had been. That night, Capt. Larry came to mind again and I determined to write him a note letting him know that he was remembered fondly for his loving care of a family in grief. The very next morning I opened the paper to find his obituary! My condolances to Larry\'s family and friends. Know that he made a difference for my family and me. We are very grateful.

I just spoke with Larry a few weeks ago, he told me of his complications . . . little did I dream that we would all lose a good friend so quickly!  He will be missed by many in "the profession" . . . my sympathies to his family.

It\'s always a little more difficult to lose one "of our own".  I will always remember Larry as a happy man full of life.  It was a pleasure to do business with him over the years.

I also have been through that bypass surgery that is pretty rough in itseslf.   May the grace of God be with you especially at this time.  May the Good Shepard help you through this time and be with you always.

Larry always had the coolest cars, I can remember cruising with him in his red 40 Ford. My deepest sympathy to his family and close friends.

Thinking of Larry brings a smile to my face.  Whether I saw him at the Tumble In or around Redondo, it was always a joy.  His humor still shines.

Respect and admiration are the two words that come to mind when I think of Larry. He did it his way and he did it right!  He took me under his wing when I was just a pup, shared his love for the ocean with me so that I could experience the beauty of the deep blue from top side.  I cherish those memories.       Cheryl, I could never express how sorry I am for your loss.  You two were a match made in heaven!

Cheryl:  And all the family, I give you my most sincere condolences. Lsrry was unique and I owe him a great debt.  I wish you could have seen the day when I brought an incensed brother we had served less than his expectations for a disaster-control memorial cruise to sea.  I had briefed Larry on this powerful, wealthy man from the Hollywood elite who focused his entire sense of loss (and inadequate service, whether justified or not) against our funeral home.  I barely talked him into a semi-renactment aboard the "Tribute" and when Larry had worked his magic of presence, presentation and wellness of soul and spirit, we walked from the Tribute boat and the man who had days before said  "this is how people lose their businesses" had changed to say "Is that a restaurant? I\'d like to have lunch with you."  If you knew the details, you would know the depth of this man\'s anger at us, the size of his wallet for potentially engaging lawyers or others against us, and would marvel at the profoundness of the sense of wellness and peace that changed this noted Hollywood tiger into a gentle man who put his arm around my shoulder after lunch and expressed fatherly concern.  I take 1% of the credit for this, for knowing Larry and hiring him to craft his ocean-bourne magic of tribute and closure, and the other 99% of this is absolutely the credit of Larry.  I told him the same at that time; this is not a fluffy memorial writing. It was true then and is true now. A master of his vessel, a master of his craft, a master of communication/memorialization. I am still indebted to him for this and other less challenging and always-excellent services, and for his friendship. I could go weeks without seeing him and he\'d talk to you like a lifelong close friend. God Bless you for giving him so many great years; I wish they could have been more.   Rick Heath

Very sorry to hear of Larry\'s death.  I have known Larry since 1947 when we walked together to school.  Sometimes we would fight!   Last saw Larry at a RUHS reunion and he mentioned he was having heart problems.  It saddened me at that time to know he was not doing well.   Hopefully he is in a better place. I knew Larry since the 3rd grade. He lived down the street from us on South Gertruda Avenue, and I remember Larry, Terry Scott,  Renny Bowden and I used to hang out together. I lost track of Larry until two years ago when his family arranged for my father\'s funeral. In the several talks Larry and I had then, I found he was the same good guy I knew back in those "old days". My condolences to his entire family, especially his wife and daughter who I knew he cared for deeply.
