
Lawrence S. Day, “ Capt. Larryâ€, of Arroyo Grande, a former 50 year resident of the South Bay, passed away November 25, 2004 after his 2nd heart bypass surgery. He was born October 24, 1942 in Torrance. He graduated from Redondo Union High School in 1960, enlisted in the Navy, attended the California College of Mortuary Science and became a licensed embalmer/funeral director. Larry was a Vice President of the family business (White & Day/Rice Mortuaries) and had his own business (Tribute Services) where he provided cremated remains scattering at sea services for families throughout Southern California. He also served on the Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach Police Department Reserves for a few years. Larry is survived by his wife of 11 years, Cheryl; his adopted daughter, Stacey (Kurt) Ramey and two grandsons, Ryan & Alex. He is also survived by his mother, Betty Day; his brother Ron (Norma) Day and sister, Pam Day. A celebration of his life service will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, December 3rd, at the Rice Mortuary in Torrance. A reception will follow at the mortuary. A family scattering at sea service will be on Saturday, December 4th.
