With her family by her side, Lee Ewart passed away on April 14, 2011 after a courageous five-year battle with chronic pancreatitis. She was fun loving, a great dancer and very funny throughout her life. As a wife, mother, grandmother and sister, family was everything to her. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert, the love of her life; and her three children who were her pride and joy, Julie Meenan, Glen Ewart and Linda Greenberg along with their spouses Michael, Stacy and Bruce. Lee's greatest delight in life was spending time with her seven grandchildren Derek and Emily Ewart, Brittany and Nicole Meenan and Bailey, Jenna and Sophia Greenberg. She was the world's greatest Grandma! She is also survived by her sister Joyce, husband Mike Durkin and brother Charles, wife Carole Shrode and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents John Raymond and Evalena Shrode; silbings Raymond Shrode, Nora Jean Shrode, Evelyn Stewart and Frances Waller. Born on December 20, 1935 in Benson, Arizona. Lee moved to Hermosa Beach the day she graduated from high school. She met Bob on the beach playing volleyball in front of her 29th Street Boarding House. After marrying June 14, 1958, they soon had three children and moved to Redondo Beach where she lived the rest of her life. Lee worked for the Bank of America as a teller for 20 years until she retired. Lee's wonderful life will be celebrated during a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Pancreas Society @ nationalpancreasfoundation.org. The family wishes to thank Karl Fukunaga, M.D., gastroenterologist and his staff for their compassion and excellent care throughout her painful battle.
