
Our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Linda Dunn passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in Torrance, CA, on April 1, 2011, due to complications from a hospitalization for pneumonia.Linda was born in Cincinnati, OH, on June 22, 1944, and grew up in nearby Hamilton, OH, where she graduated from Garfield High School in 1962. She married Kenneth Dunn on June 12, 1965. The couple relocated from Ohio to Redondo Beach in 1970. While raising her two daughters Nicole and Erica, Linda worked as a teacher at La Primera preschool. After completing her bachelor's degree at Cal State University, Long Beach, in 1982, she worked as a computer programmer first for Northrup Grumman and then for Princess Cruises, retiring in 2006 after 24 years. A lifelong traveler with an insatiable appetite for new adventures, Linda sojourned across the globe-often accompanied by family and friends-trekking to such exotic locales as Mali, West Africa, Egypt, China, as well as cruising on the Amazon River. An Ohioan by birth and a Californian by inclination, Linda loved the outdoors, spending many pleasant days at the beach, hiking at Will Rogers State Historic Park, gardening, and just soaking up the sun in her backyard. Family was the anchor of Linda's life. After relocating to California, she returned frequently to Ohio to visit her parents, sister, and other family and friends. Her home in Torrance, too, was a destination for many friends, family, where she treated one and all to the best hospitality-good company and much laughter-creating indelible memories. Her family and friends cherished her great sense of humor, affectionate nature, and zest for life. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her husband Kenneth of Torrance, daughters Nicole (Chris) of Los Angeles, and Erica (Phil) of Portland, OR, parents Robert and Betty Eicher of Fairfield, OH, sister Nancy Hibbard (Luke) also of Fairfield, sister-in-law Janice Blum of Georgetown, OH, and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 6, from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd., Torrance, CA 90503. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 7, at 11 a.m. also at Rice Mortuary.
