Known by many as “Aunt Lois”, Lois Lorraine Jones passed away on Sept. 7, 2024. She was born in Picher, Oklahoma on Feb 3rd, 1921. She came to California when she was only 6 months old. Maybe that’s where she got the sense of adventure that took her on travels around the world.
As a young child she worked in Hollywood in the film industry and later graduated from Hollywood High School. In 1941, she happened to be working in Honolulu and we all know what happened there that December. In 1942, she returned to California just in time to meet her first niece. Pre-war friendships, that had been interrupted by the war resumed. She and Keith married and both went to work for Hughes Aircraft Co. She was there for 31 years.
Then the fun really began. In their retirement years they traveled the world with friends from Hughes; they belonged to Boots and Bows, a square dance group and also a camping group.
They loved to camp, ski, travel, dance and entertain friends. Lois is survived by nieces Donna Walker and Janet Akman and great nieces Lisa Walker and Crystal Akman. A noteworthy chef, Aunt Lois will be missed and long remembered for her cookies and gracious hospitality. Her wish for us all would be to take that trip, see the world if you can, always be sure there is “more in the kitchen” and never stop dancing.
