

She was born on April 4, 1935, in Cleveland Ohio, the daughter of Laurence and Margaret (Stauffer) Young. She grew up in a family of public servants in Cleveland, OH. Graduated from John Marshall High School and enjoyed summer fishing excursions to Put-in-Bay, South Bass Island, Ohio.
Marcia graduated from Michigan State University in 1957 and received an MBA from the University of California Los Angeles in 1968. She actively served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958-1961. While stationed at Hamilton Air Force Base in Marin County, California, she met and married the love of her life, Francis. After separating from the Air Force, Frank & Marcia moved to Culver City, California and eventually settled in Torrance, where they raised their family. She worked primarily in accounting which culminated in a position as the Chief Financial Officer for the international hotel design firm, Hirsch/Bedner & Associates in 1981. She left corporate life in 1989 to try her hand at public service and equestrian excellence.
Marcia was a member of the Torrance City Council from 1994-2002. She was active in local government as a member of the Torrance Civil Service Commission, the Torrance Library Commission, and the Torrance Unified School District Personnel Commission. She was also active in the community as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (guardian ad litem), a consumer affairs counselor, and a board member with the League of Women Voters. Marcia especially loved horse riding and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and its Pacific Coast affiliate. She exhibited for over a decade in the Select World Championship Shows from the inaugural year of 2003, placing as high as second in 2012. But most of all, she loved and supported her horses; travelling to shows across the Southwest. Marcia and her husband were world travelers, exploring all the Continents and Seven Seas except Antarctica.
She is survived by her son Michael (So-Mi) Cribbs of Canberra, Australia; daughters Patricia Cribbs of San Diego, CA, Linda Cribbs of New Ross, IN and Carol Cribbs of Reston, VA; granddaughter Tia Cribbs of Canberra, Australia; her nephews Laurence (Kate) Young, of Santa Barbara, CA and Thomas Young, of Lynnwood, WA; her great-nephew Eli Young, of Santa Barbara, CA; and her horse Luther, of Santa Ynez Valley, CA. She was preceded in death by her father, Laurence Young, her mother Margaret (Stauffer) Young, brother William Young and her husband Francis Cribbs.

Celebration of Life will be held at Lighthouse Memorials & Receptions Rice Center, 5310 Torrance Blvd, Torrance CA, on Friday May 16, 2025, from 10:00am until 2:00pm.
