
MARVIN SANFORD WILSON, SR. longtime resident of Gardena passed away July 8, 2006 of natural causes. Born March 29, 1924 in Kansas City Missouri and was a member of the Senior Class of 1942 at R. L. Sabin High School in Portland Oregon. He served in the US Marines during WW II and the Korean Conflict and was a survivor of the Chosen Reservoir where his position was overrun and he received multiple wounds and was later rescued when the Marines counter-attacked. He was a recipient of two Purple Hearts.
He married Los Angeles resident Marjorie Parker in October of 1946 and was married for 51 years when she preceded him in death 9 years ago.
He is survived by 3 children; Marvin Jr. (Jackie) of Ukiah, Mary (Brian Casey) of Gardena, Mark (Annette) of San Bernardino, 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Marvin was a member of the Holy Name Society at Saint Catherine La Boure Parish as well as the Knights of Columbus. He was involved in the implementation of the El Camino Village Homeowner Association until he moved to Ukiah 7 years ago where he enjoyed being involved with the community.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at White & Day Colonial Chapel on Friday, July 14, 2006 from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held at Holy Cross' small chapel on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 12 Noon.
