Mercedes Roberto Guerrero

Mercedes Roberto Guerrero, a 57 year resident of Redondo Beach, passed away on Thursday, May 22nd, 2008 in Inglewood. Born in Agana, Guam, Mercedes was 88 when she died. Mercedes was a devoted homemaker, raising 13 children. Her passion was her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ and she attended Catholic services at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Hermosa Beach. Her duty was to her husband and family. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, cooking, reading, and singing in the church choir. She was a member of the Chammoru Community Council of CA. In her active years she was a member of the PTA and was a voter precinct worker for many years, fostering a deep interest in politics which continued for the rest of her life. Her loves were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an avid fan of the LA Lakers and Dodgers.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father Juan Ramirez Roberto and Maria Tenorio Duenas; two sons Peter Leon Guerrero and Joseph Leon Guerrero; and husband Pedro Leon Guerrero. Her 11 surviving children are: son, Juan Guerrero of South Gate, CA., Daughter Agnes (Phillip Dore) Jordan of Redondo Beach, CA., son, Kenny (Darlene) Guerrero of Redondo Beach, CA., son, Frank Guerrero of Lomita, CA., Son, Raymond (Pam) Guerrero of Downey, CA., Daughter, Jo-Ann (Clayton) Hill of Torrance, CA., Son, Paul (Jacki) Guerrero of Torrance, CA., Son, Tony Guerrero of Lahaina, HI., Son, Martin (Becca) Guerrero of Tumon Bay, Guam, Daughter Mary (Tom) Cristler of Herndon, VA., Daughter Lucy (Steven Abrams, Fiance) Guerrero of Long Beach, CA. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

The Viewing, and gathering of friends and family will be held at Rice Mortuary Chapel on Friday, May 30, 2008 from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm with a Rosary service at 7pm and light refreshments following.

The Funeral Mass will be held the following day, May 31st at 9:00 AM with gravesite services At Pacific Cemetery immediately following, and Reception at Rice Mortuary at 11:00 AM.
