Mike was a very good friend of mine, one that I was so fortunate to know. He always had a quiet peacefulness about him, and had a rare spirit, one that emulated our Savior. I always felt accepted and peaceful around him, and never once did I ever hear him say a negative word to anyone.

He was such an integral part of the All-Timers band, and his help with the arrangements made us sound so much better. His excellence playing the banjo (a rare 5-string), was so outstanding and I'm so glad I have recordings of the band to relive those times. 

I'm so sorry for your loss, it is my loss as well. I knew him in 5th grade through his brother Dave, who became one of my closest friends. I and my brother Chris always felt welcomed by all the Geier family, and Mike was a big part of that.  His confident, easy-going personality  was such a good thing to see, and made our friendship much stronger as well.

One funny story happened involving Mike during the band years. In 1983 I believe, we were to have a show one night at a local convalescent home. Dave and Mike were going to pick my brother and I up at my parent's house since my car was in the shop for a dent repair. We waited for awhile outside for them to get there, but then we went back inside. My dad said that they had called, and told them he thought we had left. Dave and Mike just then arrived, and not seeing my car thought we had left! They didn't know my car was in the shop. The then went to the show, and my brother and I went back outside to wait for them, not knowing that they were just there! We missed the show, and all of us laughed about it later.

I'm going to miss Mike. His kindness and consideration to me is something that I'll always treasure, and the kind of person he was is something that I'll always try to live up to. It is so wonderful to know that Mike will be reunited with all of us through the beautiful grace we have through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I'm privileged that he was my friend.








I remember Mike as a very calm and kind person. He was gifted with the ability to play the banjo very well. His music 🎵 brought joy to senior citizens at many residential care homes. I'm sure his Spirit lives on in his family and all those who he touched.


I've known Mike since I married his brother Dave for five years now. he is always been kindhearted and very softspoken. He's a very religious person and admired him so much on his good faith and always trusting God in everything. It's hard to see a good person go but I'm not in control of God's will, he will always be in our heart, I know that he is in a better place now. We love you Mike

Mike was a fine brother who always was grounded. Not only did he know his Catholic faith, he was a friend to everyone who knew him. 

He was a big brother, average in stature, but had a gentle heart. He was reserved and quiet on the outside, but he did have a  humorous side. 

In his later years, he suffered a lot, but always offered it up to help others. As he would say, "never let suffering go to waste". I think that was quoted from a Saint. 

Although I was the most distant brother as far as being the farthest away, I tried to see him as much as I could. I do remember he came to San Diego one time to see our house and visit the turkey and chickens.  

Mike also like gardening, was interested in Genealogy and birds and animals.  He loved the United State National Parks and nature. He loved to travel and see the countryside. 

Mike will be missed, but we will see him someday again. I know he wants to see us soon, although I am not in too big of a hurry just yet!

Jan and family, our condolences to you on the loss of Michael. He was a good friend and internet pal as we often worked together on family history from the central Illinois region. He had an attention to detail to all he did and I could always count on him to find particular, yet subtle, historical elements to the family history that we were researching. May he rest in the peace of the Lord. We all will miss him.
