
Percy Charles Whitaker Jr. was born on September 19, 1942 to Percy Charles Whitaker Sr. and Frankie Whitaker in Chicago, Illinois (both preceded him in death). Percy Jr. had two brothers, Eddie Harrison (D) and Charles R. Whitaker (D); four sisters, Georgia Harrison (D), Tony Arthella Whitaker (D), Roberta Whitaker (D), and Dorothy Murphy (Thurman) of Merced, CA. Percy Jr. was raised by Percy Sr. and Florence Lee Whitaker in Los Angeles, CA.
Percy attended school in the Los Angeles Unified School District. He graduated from Jordan High School. Percy joined the United States Army after graduating from high school. While serving in the U.S. Marines Percy further developed his childhood love for boxing. Percy received an honorable discharge and returned to Los Angeles, CA. Percy continued his education and received a degree in business. He later worked for the Stanley Dillard Co. before branching into his own business of carpentry. In 1972 Percy Jr. married Vida R. Jordan and to this union Gatheree Jerron Whitaker and Felicia Nicole Whitaker were born.
Percy was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed boxing and horse racing. He was a chess and "pinochle player" for sure.
In the early 1980s Percy Jr. met the love of his life, Becca "Becky" Billups and they were later married. They spent the remaining chapters of his life in love. During Percy's illness, Becky faithfully and devotedly took care of him until his death.
Percy Jr. leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Becca Whitaker of Inglewood, CA; three daughters, Felicia Nicole Whitaker, Tanisha Whitaker and Sarah Katheyn Jordan; three sons, Gatheree Jerron Whitaker (Gloria), Anthony Ulysses Whitaker, and Kevin Terrell Jordan; five grandchildren, Darrius Jerron Spears, Khryslin Vaughn Whitaker, Kennon John-Charles Whitaker, Kyle Xavier Whitaker, and Destiny Angel Jordan; a sister, Dorothy Murphy (Thurman). He also leaves to mourn his passing a host of loved ones, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
