Randall Eugene Doerschel

Doerschel, Randall Eugene, a 42 year resident of Gardena passed away suddenly on September 11th, 2008 at home. Born and raised in South Los Angeles, California he was 62 years old when he passed. Randy attended Harbor and El Camino colleges and joined the L.A Sheriff's Department as a reserve officer. He was a member of the Culver City Police prior to becoming an insurance agent in 1972.

As an active member of the Gardena community his love for the city kept him involved in many ways, including past presidency of the Gardena Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Lions Club, Kiwanis Club Elks Club of Gardena and the YMCA. He also served as president in many professional insurance associations over the years.

Randy was an avid fan of USC football and always interested in American history. Some of his other passions included spending time working with the kids at the Kiwanis Special Olympics program and enjoyed participating in all of the Gardena fundraising events.

He met the love of his life, Sheila at Henry Clay junior-high school and they have been together ever since. Randy and Sheila were happily married for 43 years. He is survived by his wife Sheila, children, Debbie (husband Richard), Darren (wife Sherry), Michael (wife Tennille), and Tiffani (fiancé Jerod), sisters, Jeannie and Joanie. He adored each and every one of his 13 grandchildren, Daniel (wife Erika), Anthony, Joseph, Nikolaus, Courteney, Kody, Jacob, Bryana, Johnathan, Kylee, Tatiana, Alyssa, and Myranda.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Eugene Doerschel of Long Beach California, sister Randi Louise Doerschel and brother Richard Doerschel.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11:00am , on Saturday, September 20th, 2008 at St. Johns Lutheran Church located at 14571 Crenshaw Blvd. Gardena, CA 90249.
