Dear Ron, Linda and Rita's family:   I just returned from a trip to Japan on Nov 1st and was shocked and saddened to learn of Rita's sudden passing and just wanted to share my deepest sympathy to all of you in your unexpected and "premature" loss of Rita (she was so young).        As others have mentioned, Rita's "winning" smile and laugh will remain in the memories of all those who knew her.  I worked in real estate with Rita and Linda and admired Rita's "classy" style.  My brother,Willie, shared some of Rita's emails of your adventures in Panama, Ron, and it was fun hearing that you were both enjoying living down there.  I'm sure it will be difficult for you to carry on there without Rita, Ron, but hope that your fond memories of happy times shared together will help to comfort you in the coming days and months.       I know Rita was a big help to you, Ron & Linda, during your Mother's illness before her death and I'm sure you treasure that time spent together with Rita as well. Dear Ron and all of Rita's family:  I want you all to know that I loved your Rita like a sister - she was my Roseburg ya-ya. Ron I know you know the meaning of that, I hope some of her family members know as well.  There are very, very few people in my life that I would refer to that way .. and Rita was one of them because I loved her so much.      Rita and I only got to really know each other just a couple of years ago.  Even though I'd worked with Ron & known him for almost 20 years, I'd just never had the opportunity to get to know Rita.  Then I landed up on a wine-tour bus with her, Ron, Linda & Jorgen.  We hit it off immediately & from that day forward I considered her one of my very best, dearest & closest friends.  She was a wonderful, loving, giving & caring person.  I'll remember her for all the times we had together, but most of all I will remember her laugh.  God I loved to hear her laugh - it was so very infectious.  She could light up a room with that laugh.      I know that as a friend, I am going to miss her so terribly and my heart breaks for the pain, hurt, sorrow and loss that all of you are feeling.  I am so sorry we all had to lose her so soon, but I know her love & her spirit will be with us forever in a million different ways.  I'd like to share a poem that I think describes the way Rita would want us all to feel...                    I'm Free      Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.  I'm following the path God laid for me.      I took his hand when I heard his call, I turned my back and left it all.      I could not stay another day..to laugh, to love, to work or play.      Tasks left undone must stay that way.  I found that place at the close of the day.         If my parting has left a void, then fill it up with remembered joy...      A freindship shared, a laugh, a kiss..ah yes, these things I too will miss.      But be not burdened with times of sorrow....I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.        My life's been full, I've savored much..good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.      Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Memories of Aunt Rita? Where would I even begin? I'll tell you a couple of things I will never forget: That contagious laugh of hers, those big brown eyes that seemed to hold the moon and the soul of an angel. I can't even remember how we became friends because it was so long ago and it just seems that it was always so.  Despite rarely seeing each other in the past 20 years, the times we were together we just connected again like true friends do.  Thoughts of you have been often in the last few months during travels to Oregon and looking forward to getting together when we move there shortly.  It saddens me so much that I didn't get in touch sooner, but I know that eventually we'll see each other again.  All my love Rita. Tom is previous owner of businesses in Roseburg which Rita sold for him.  We always enjoyed our dealings with Rita, she was a true professional and a classy lady.  She will be greatly missed.

So very tragic!  Rita was an incredible lady with an obvious world of friends and loved ones.  Always had the big smile and always seemed so positive.  So weird how I lost two friends on the same day yet so many miles apart.  My thoughts are with you and your family and with Sunny.

Rita and Francie were born less than a year after my son David's birth.  How exciting that my aunt and I were both having babies around the same time!  Watching the kids grow up together even though we weren't always living in the same state with the Zaengles was fun to say the least.  One of my favorite photos of the twins was the one where my father was holding the two babies on his lap with a huge grin on his face.  He was so proud of them and loved them very much.  I remember Rita as always being very happy, with a big smile and the light of joy and excitement in her big brown eyes.  She and David became great friends.  In fact, if truth were to be known, I had the distinct feeling at times that they had become true "kissing cousins." They each took true pleasure in each other's company and saw each other often when Rita lived in Half Moon Bay and David was in the Navy. It is sad that these two young people were the first to leave their families behind broken hearted and grieving for their passing. And yet, that must have been God's plan for them.  It is a bittersweet thought to think that they are laughing together once again. My love to you, Rita, and to all of you who will miss her so dearly.
