
Robert Andrew Fleischman, a 56 year resident of Hawthorne, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2011. Born in Lawrence, MA, Robert was 77 when he died. Robert had served in the Army during 1957-1959. Robert was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and Boy Scout leader for several years. Bob served as President of Airport Marina Council of the Telephone Pioneers of America 1982-1983. After retirement, he became an instructor for the Pioneer senior computer classes. When Vincent, his son, entered the Boy Scouts as a Cub, Bob also joined. Bob joined as Scout leader, along with Arnie Rothans, Jim Ireland, Del Hodges and guy Sanford. It's debatable who enjoyed those years more, the boys or the dads. Boy Scout Headquarters gave them the nickname of "The Eagle Factory". After retiring from Pac Bell, he soon became a Keno enthusiast, spending a lot of time between Laughlin and the cabin in 29 Palms. He will be truly missed. Robert is survived by wife, Marilyn Fleischman his children and grandchildren: Cathy and Stas Vellonakis, their two daughters, Annie and Lauren; Valerie Halvorsen, her three children, Jessica, Brad and Mitchell; Vincent and Rica Fleischman, his two children, Peter and Rebecca; Wendy Fleischman and Jennifer Fleischman. The Memorial Service will be at American Martyr on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow in the Lighthouse Reception Room at Rice Mortuary from 3:30 pm until 5:30. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Society, La Salette Monastery.
