Robert Emery Gennaria

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, Robert Emery Gennaria, friend and neighbor, passed away into eternal life on Sunday, May 15, 2011. Born September 16, 1927, he was the fourth child of Edna and Henry Gennaria. He was a 52 year resident of Redondo Beach. He married the love of his life, June and they enjoyed a beautiful 61 year marriage. He was very active in his children's lives and activities. He served our Nation in the Navy during the Cold War. He worked as an automobile mechanic for 30 years, also a Real Estate Agent/Broker until his death. He served his church in many capacities including fund raising for building the present church. He was a 60 year member of Odd Fellowship. He was a member of Redondo Odd Fellows Lodge # 195 and Silver Crest Rebekah Lodge #295. He was very active in the Odd Fellows' Grand Lodge of California. He was a very active member of the Odd Fellows and Rebekah Rose Float for 46 years. He served on the committee for the float for many years and Chairman for 5 years. His life passion was his wife June, his 4 children, church, Odd Fellows and the Rose Float. Robert is survived by his wife, June Gennaria of 61 years, daughters; Roberta (John) Prosk, Susan Danton and Josephine (Alafoti) Toomata and son; Leslie (Linda) Gennaria, 4 grandchildren, 1 great grand daughter. He has 2 brothers and 2 sisters who live in Pennsylvania. The memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manhattan Beach, on Friday, June 10, 2011 at noon, with a reception following in the church reception hall. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Odd Fellow Rebekah Rose Float.
