I'm so sorry to learn that Sandy has passed on... to say it was unexpected to me is an understatement!      in the little time I'd come to know Sandy, she was always funny and sweet... we enjoyed one another when our paths crossed -- unfortunately not often enough... I recall sharing one birthday with her and a friend -- we had a blast, chatting & sharing stories till way too late into the night... it was/is a treasured memory...

Sandra Sue Smith Sivas -- I would tell her that she sparkled and shined.  We met in 1983; she and I and my husband John lived in "The Palace" together for a while.  She's been a friend since the first minute I met her.  And, oh my, how I will miss sharing life with her.

Sandy was my dear friend. Many of us will regret that we did not do more for Sandy, but Sandy carried her struggles very privately. Sandy's generous spirit and keen mind were held hostage by a failing body.  In a way Sandy longed for the day when she would be free of the pain. I am better off for having Sandy as my friend and now I grieve for the loss of something that was dear to me.

I will miss her dearly.  I have just learned of this loss 4-27-06, the month the flowers we planted so many years ago bloom every year.  Pink Tulips.  It is also at a time when I  miss her friendship, advise and wisdom.        Our paths had crossed as neighbors and friends while I raised my young boys.  Our dogs loved each other too.   She loved my boys and dog.  She enjoyed watching them grow and had a very special connection with them.        My boys and I will hold a place in our hearts for her always.        Jean Broese

Sandy, sweet sister and best friend.  She always had the greatest advice for me and I will miss that terribly.  She is finally at peace.

Auntie,    Thinking back to my chilhood, I remember how full of life you were.  You were so fun to be around, always laughing and making Lehua and I laugh as well.  I will always remember Bob's Big Boy, skating, taking us to the movies, and root beer floats.  I know these last years have been hard for you so it eases my pain that you are pain free and in a much better place.      I will always remember you-Moana

I only knew Sandy for a couple of years, yet I will miss her dearly. Sandy was definitely a "One of a Kind". Sandy, may you rest in peace.

I have known Sandy since she was 16.  We met at a time when we were both suffering from broken families, though in far different ways. Through the years we have been friends, family and much, much moreâ€¦some positive, some negative.  I have been witness to her journey from a headstrong â€œI can do anythingâ€¦â€ young woman, with a great mind and a quick wit, to the prisoner of a failing body, and someone who would lose her way as she battled her personal demons. Itâ€™s difficult to encapsulate 40 years, and for me there will always be one more â€œif onlyâ€¦â€, but in the end, there are many good memories, all of which I will hold dear.       At her best, she was one of the kindest persons one could ever hope to meet - always a good friend, she touched the lives of many.  She could take the pain and suffering of others, absorb it, embrace it and radiate healing energy back out.  Unfortunately what she found so easy to do for others, she found equal difficulty in doing for herself.       There is never a good time to say goodbye, but her demons are now vanquished and her body no longer suffers. She is at peace in the arms of the Angels.  I will miss her.

Sandy was once one of my best friends, and then we hit a snag.  I always knew that one day weâ€™d run into each other at Savon or Albertsons, and look at each other for a moment, then hug and all would be forgiven and forgotten, and like old times again.  Or I could have just called her.      Now, Sandy, you have some answers that the rest of us will just have to wait for.  From our trip to Hawaii we had a standing joke, and Iâ€™ll ask you that question now â€“ Was it all you had hoped it would be?  I hope youâ€™re laughing!      Lucinda
