Shirlee Conde

Born February 11, 1936 in Burlington North Dakota, the second of four children to Tommy and June. Shirlee Ann Sartwell moved to Alameda, CA where she was raised and met her future husband Raymond Conde. They met in Oakland when she was a fare in his taxi. The two were married and relocated to Gardena, where they opened their restaurant "The Charbroiler" later known as "Conde's" which remained in business for 35 years. The "Conde's" sign is still displayed on the Universal City walk today. Shirlee and Raymond created a family complete with five children and 10 grandchildren. Shirlee passed away peacefully on May 5, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She will be remembered for her love of life, sense of humor, compassion and unconditional love which she shared with whomever she met. Memorial services of her “Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday May 14th at 10:00am at St Lawrence Martyr Church, 1900 South Prospect Ave., Redondo Beach, CA 90277 (310) 540-0329.
