Sister Donna Shanahan, C.S.J. age 84, passed away on Monday May 2, 2022 at the Kern River Transitional Care Center in Bakersfield California. Born January 24, 1938, in Chicago Illinois, a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet since September 15, 1959.
She moved to California with her parents and four older sisters in 1953. Sister Donna taught in various elementary schools within the Province. She moved from teaching to parish ministry in the 1990’s. Since 2007 she ministered as a retreat director and spiritual director for two parishes in Bakersfield.
Sister Donna enjoyed oil painting and water coloring. Her work graces many of her friends and colleagues offices and homes.
She is survived by her sisters, Sister Patricia Rose Shanahan CSJ and Phyllis Droesch.
A Virtual Service of Remembrance will be held on June 1 at 2:00 pm.
