Annette Debs was born in Los Angeles, California, the third of five children. Annette attended St Francis of Assisi Grade School and Bishop Conaty. She was an excellent and enthusiastic student who loved learning--a trait she carried with her throughout her life.
Annette entered Community in 1957 and received the name S Mary Tecla. A significant aspect of Annette’s ministerial life was completing Law School in a program oriented to social justice issues. For many years, she worked to provide low-cost legal services to the poor. For 18 years, Sister served as an Administrative Law Judge with the State of California, in Unemployment and State Disability and employment taxes.
Her great love of the poor was expressed in action. Annette was upbeat and pleasant with an infectious laugh and a great sense of humor. She lived out of her authentic self as a minister of great love, a carrier of grace to those often overlooked. She loved big and loved all. She embraced the entire Body of Christ.
May she rest in peace.
