Patricia was born in Los Angeles, the third in her family of five children. Pat described her early years in the family as happy times. All the Haire children except one attended St. Anselm School.
During her high school years at Bishop Conaty High School, Pat met the Sisters of St Joseph. She entered community and received the habit in March 1947. Most of her ministerial years were spent in teaching. She taught in all grades; in most elementary schools, she taught piano, violin, music and the choir. During her final years in teaching, she studied and earned a PhD in Psychology. She was one of five sisters who volunteered to go to Gulu in Africa where she counseled children and teenagers.
When Pat returned from Africa, she was missioned to San Bernardino, CA. Her primary ministry was counseling. She was asked to volunteer to be the chaplain for San Bernardino’s Sheriff’s Department. Pat really enjoyed her time in that role--especially wearing the uniform and riding in the helicopter.
Pat formed lifelong relationships wherever she served and leaves many friends. May she rest in peace.
The Service of Remembrance will be held via streaming on February 17, 2026, starting at 2:00 pm.
