March 28, 1932- March 22, 2026
Remijia Encarnacion Coronas was born in Waipahu, Oahu, Hawaii. She lived with her many siblings on a sugar plantation. She loved solitude from her earliest days and remembered the comfortable feeling of sitting on the beach alone – yet not alone. It was the beginning of her sense of God, which grew and developed over the years.
She entered community in 1950, received the habit and name Sister Teresa Ann. Through the years, she was fondly called TA.
TA taught for 21 years in Northern and Southern California. She was also a writer for the Catholic Voice in Oakland, Pacific News Service and the Hawaii Catholic Herald.
She had a playful, joyful nature and brought laughter and music into any gathering; She had a tremendous gift for making others happy. She believed, “That person is a success, who has received God’s love and returned it!”
May she rest in peace.
Sr. Teresa Ann is survived by her brother, Al (Linda) Coronas; sisters Joan Coronas and Leonarda Mapano; and nephews Edward Mapapano Jr, Evan (Lili) Wynne, and Marc Wynne.
