1951 – 2011
Suzanne Neta Berg (nee Magee, formerly Williams) passed away June 20, 2011 after kicking cancer’s ass for more than three decades. Born in Toronto on May 27, 1951 to Bill and Yvonne Magee, Suzanne was a Canadian girl who had her children young, struggled with relationships, worked hard for everything she ever gained or lost, and longed for adventure, education, and freedom in all its fleeting forms. She loved intensely and experienced deeply; she never valued money or possessions over integrity, independence, or feeling; she was both private and startlingly open; she was both willful and disarmingly kind; she liked children and sweets and politics; she was smart and beautiful, had a sharp tongue and a fierce work ethic; she was inclusive and just; she made a life in the U.S., missed Canada, and wished for more; she was extraordinarily dedicated to her children and took great joy in her grandchildren. She was not done yet. She is survived by her siblings Doug, Mary-Beth, and Kent; children Andrew, Brady, and Adrienne; and grandchildren Aidan, Zoe, Gabriel, Zach, Ephraim, Nate, Leila, and Eleni. Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church on Monday, June 27 (12:30 viewing). In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, go to the doctor and take care of your health, or just buy yourself a lipstick or a coffee and give your loved ones some extra time and attention.
