Theola Mae Petersen

Theola Mae Klatt “Grandma Pete” was born on October 3, 1933 in Newman Grove, Nebraska to Bernice and Alfred Klatt. After living in a Children’s Home for a number of years, she was later fostered by distant relatives, Chet and Roberta Froding.

Tish met the love of her life, Fred while attending Fremont High School and was happily married for 61 years until Fred’s death in 2011. Fred and Tish lived in Fremont, Falls City, and Rushville, Nebraska until they relocated to Torrance, California in 1962, where she resided until her death on January 27, 2023 at the age of 89.

Tish was the team mom extraordinaire, volunteering in PTA, girl scouts, drill team, AYSO, Little League, West High Booster Club, and any other opportunity to support her four children. She was a long time volunteer at Harbor UCLA Hospital, giving EKGs, and worked for Thompson Photography, where she loved taking school pictures. She thrived juggling her seven grandchildren’s sports schedules and could always be found in the stands at football, soccer, track, baseball, volleyball, swimming, or wrestling matches.

Tish was preceded in death by her husband Fred and son Rick and is survived by her children: Barbara (Tom) Slowey, Kati (Paul) Krumpe, and David (Amy) Petersen and seven grandchildren, Erika Dillon, Shannon and Kyle Slowey, Tyler and Cameron Krumpe, and Josh and Grace Petersen.
