Betty (Sleder) Ennis Died September 9, 2016 TRAVERSE CITY - Betty (Sleder) Ennis, 84, a Traverse City native, died Friday evening , September 9, 2016, at her home at Boardman Lake Glens with family by her side. Born in Traverse City on June 13, 1932, she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Maule) Sleder. On October 19, 1957, she married Henry Ennis in Traverse City. Henry survives her and is at Tendercare Birchwood Health Center, Traverse City. Betty spent her entire life in Traverse City. As a youngster she grew up on Bay Street and her first working experience after graduating high school was at Fivenson’s. She later worked at Chef Pierre/Sara Lee where she eventually retired. She loved the water, flowers, walking, chocolate, and strawberry sundaes Betty enjoyed spending time with family, friends and travelling during her retirement. She is survived by her children, John (Anita) Ennis, of Empire, Katherine (Scott) Gerber, of Columbus. Ohio, grandchildren; Kristen (Ennis) Harris, Joe Ennis, Bryant Ennis, Kyle Gerber, and Lauren Gerber: four great grandchildren: and her sister Patricia J. Timco of Modesto, California. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Genevieve M. "Jenny" (Sleder) Bellows and brother, George Sleder. At her request, she will be cremated and buried at Oakwood Cemetery. No services are planned at this time. In remembrance of Betty, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
