Beverly G. Plummer

31 mars 19391 mars 2021

Beverly G. Plummer, 81, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on March 1, 2021 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Daughter of Carlyle and Norma Obery, she was born on March 31, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Mumford High School in 1957. She worked at Wayne State University for two years before marrying William (Bill) Priemer who she met at vacation bible school as a child. She became a widow 18 years later, and continued to care for their three daughters before marrying Rex Plummer who had four sons. Bev was very social and loved contributing to the lives of others. She volunteered in her church in a variety of positions, planned events for the Parent Teacher League at school, taught Vacation Bible School, visited the elderly at convalescent homes, and recruited volunteers for fundraising charities. She was very creative and enjoyed oil painting, charcoal drawing, stain glass, scrapbooking, clay pottery, playing pinochle, taking French lessons, hosting birthday and holiday celebrations, attending Bible study classes, and raising her family to love the Lord. Her two favorite hymns are Heaven is My Home, and the Old Rugged Cross. Bev will be greatly missed and remembered for her welcoming smile, hugs and kisses. Bev’s beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children. Lori Ross Melton (her caregiver for three years), Karen Priemer (Brian), Sherry Priemer (Anthony); step-sons Jim (Micki), Jon (Kashi) and Jay; grandchildren Tiffany (Christopher), Ashley (Roger), Kirsten, Tory (Chad), Mathew, Michael, and Jesse; great grandchildren Andrew, Rex, Eugene, Austin, Owen and Isla. She is also preceded in death by her husbands’ Bill and Rex, siblings Carolyn and Lee, step-son Robert, and grandson Brandon. We are confident Bev is pain free and spending eternity in Glory with Jesus. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16. Bev had a deep love for her family and friends. Everyone called her “Mom.” Her legacy to love and worship the Lord is inspirational for future generations. In her honor, Bev’s life will be celebrated with immediate family. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Rex Plummer, in Sarasota, Florida. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 We ask that you provide comforting prayers for her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan or to the church or charity of your choice. May God be with you until we are all reunited in our heavenly home in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Dear Cousins,
Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures and obituary. I cherish memories of Aunt Bev as a joyous and loving person. She gave love generously and was uplifting with her positive outlook and her gorgeous warm smile. We enjoyed family gatherings together and catching up by phone. It was a pleasure and blessing to have attended worship at Trinity Lutheran Church and the opportunity to meet Bev. We also remember Rex. Bev always had a welcoming smile, which is a fond memory. Sympathy to the family.

Dear Cousins,
Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your Mom. You certainly have some wonderful memories of her to cherish for the rest of your lives. May you find comfort and peace in knowing that she no longer has to live by faith because she lives in the presence of Jesus. I wanted to share my thoughts and appreciation for my Mom Bev. My Mom taught us throughout life, no matter what is going on, there is a bright side to everything. Even throughout her illness and suffering, she kept a positive, loving attitude, which I find amazing! Her inspiration to keep a positive attitude in all things, line up with scripture. Paul wrote in Philippians, “ Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with Thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God; and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. I am thankful my Mom, Bev is no longer in pain or suffering. But instead is celebrating in her Heavenly home with Jesus and other loved ones who have passed before her. I pray you all may know the love of Christ and have the same benefit of eternal life with Christ. I have a feeling, Mom would be super happy to see you and she would be the one hosting your welcoming home party too.

My favorite memories of Aunt Bev consist of wonderful fun and loving conversations during meals, over coffee, or at family gatherings. Her beautiful smile lit up the room and her ready laughter made every occasion a joyous one.

If I had a problem, she’d be up to talking it over with me. She cared greatly about us. She loved sharing family memories with us and creating those memories.

I am inspired by the care that my cousin Lori gave Bev during these last three years and the help provided by other relatives. Caring for a mother with dementia requires so much time, effort, and patience. Lori is one of the few people I know with these characteristics.
