Daniel graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1949 where he enjoyed playing basketball, baseball, and hockey. After graduating from high school he was approached to play for a minor league baseball team. The team folded a year later prompting Dan to make the decision to attend Northwestern University in Chicago, where he graduated from the Midwestern Broadcasting School. Daniel married Mildred Wurm on April 26, 1952 at St Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City. His love for all sports, news, and music led to 35 years in Broadcasting and managing many Radio and TV Stations. He broadcasted many sporting events in his career that included events at high school, college, and pro-level. He was the voice of the TC Bays Hockey Team for WLDR. In addition to his Broadcasting Career, Dan owned five indoor movie theaters in northern Michigan. He coached the St. Mary's Basketball Team, loved to play golf, was a movie buff, loved all genre of music, and would travel down to Detroit anytime to watch the Tigers play. He had a passion for reading many newspapers, American History, travelling throughout the United States and crossword puzzles. He loved all dogs especially the ones he cared for throughout his life. Dan will be missed mostly for his quick wit, great sense of humor, singing, and his contagious laugh!
