Dorothy E. Phelps

Dorothy Elaine Phelps, age 84, of Cedar, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Munson Medical Center. She was born October 31, 1927 in Highland Park to George and Lola (McCormick) Timerson. Dorothy was a graduate of Redford High School. She then went on to study interior design at Wayne State University. On June 28, 1947 she married Theodore Lee Phelps in Redford. Together they raised 4 wonderful daughters. Dorothy worked for over 20 years as the secretary to the Mayors of Garden City. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, reading, boating, music, and cooking. Having raised all girls, Dorothy loved and cherished each of her sons-in-law. They held a special place in her heart along with her two grandsons.

Dorothy will be greatly missed by her husband of 65 years, Theodore; Daughters: Diane Elaine (Timothy) Anest of Redford, Bonnie Lee Davio of Dunedin, FL, Barbara Lynn (Ronald) White of Lake Ann, and Hally Susan (Barry) Ryan of Howell; 2 grandsons Brian Davio and Jason Anest.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service for family and close friends will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. Memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name may be directed to the Cherryland Humane Society.
