

He was born in Ellsworth, Michigan on May 20, 1929, the son of William and Blanche Petter. Harold graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1946 and married Helen Orcutt, who preceded him in death in July of 2011. Harold and Helen moved to Traverse City in 1951 and lived there until their deaths. Harold worked for the Michigan State Highway Department for 12 years and for 34 years held various sales positions. In his later years he enjoyed delivering cars for Williams Automotive Dealership.
His interests included Barbershop singing plus golf, fishing, word puzzles and reading.
Harold is survived by two daughters, Tafra (Bob) Krevinghaus and Janna (Ron Flack) Slotten. His surviving siblings include two brothers - Ed Petter and Bill Petter and two sisters - Sue Petter and Linda Wetzel. Siblings who predeceased Harold were Shirley Petrie, Marilyn Coakley and Betty Moore. Harold was a grandfather to Kirsten (John) Soltis and Kendra Randolph and a great-grandfather to Thomas, Jillian, Anna and Evelyn.
The family wishes to extend special appreciation to the staff at the Cowell Infusion Center and staff of the Munson Heart Failure Clinic for the compassionate care Harold received, as well as the girls from Sparky's diner.
A celebration of Harold’s life will be held at the Community Building – King’s Court, 2899 La Franier Road, in Traverse City on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 1:00pm - 3:00 p.m.
