

Helen E. Crouch, age 88, of Traverse City passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 1, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 19, 1927 in Battle Creek to Philip and Nina Mae (Caswell) Polhamus. Helen graduated from Traverse City High School in 1947. On November 2, 1947, Helen married the late Evart D. Crouch at her parent’s home in Acme. Together they had six children.
Helen and Evart moved to the Clio area in 1950 where Helen worked for A.C. Spark Plug until her retirement in 1977 after 25 years. Evart and Helen returned to the Traverse City area in 2002.
Helen was a proud and active member of the Red Hat Society. She also enjoyed sewing, crafts, shopping, and garage sales.
Helen will be greatly missed by her children: Barbara Caruth of Clio, Roberta (Steve) Grill of Hamilton, IN, Daniel (Donna) Crouch of Cushing TX, Beverly Boots of Tucson AZ, Michael (Lee) Crouch of Traverse City, a son-in-law Robert Caruth of Millington, brother Norman (Helen) Polhamus, sister-in-law Elinor Harrigan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband Evart in 2011 and son Evart Dale Jr.
A visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 2 from 6-9 p.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City.
A funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 at 2pm also at the funeral home with visitation starting at 12pm.
Helen will be laid to rest next to her husband and son at Acme Cemetery immediately following the service.
A memorial gathering will also take place at Bethany Methodist Church in Clio on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 5-7 pm.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Traverse City.
