Jennie was born on August 30, 1923 in Detroit, the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Sadlo) Pokora. She was raised with her sister, Evelyn, on a farm in Anchorville, MI. On May 24, 1941, she married Bruno S. Czyrka and started her family. Jennie was a busy mother of three children. She loved celebrating with family and friends on holidays and special occasions. Their son Bruno learned to play the accordion and their home was the center of many family polka parties and family events. She lived a simple and selfless life as a servant of people. In 1971, Bruno retired and they moved north to Maple City. There, she was active at St. Rita’s Church as a sacristan and part of the Altar and Rosary Society. Her greatest joy in life was serving her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at their lake home. She was a great cook, made the best pancakes in town, and her family considered her a master pie maker.
In later years, she was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Women’s Club and Holy Rosary Altar and Rosary Society. She belonged to a walking group for 18 years at Maple City Fitness Center and was also a member of the Lime Lake Ladies Group. She loved feeding the birds and watching all the wildlife in her yard. Her joyful smile and loving countenance will be missed by her family and friends.
Jennie is survived by her daughter, Carole Jones; son, John (Barb) Czyrka; daughter-in-law, Luisa Czyrka; grandchildren, Evelina “Mimi” (Shane) Brent, Michael (Karol) Czyrka, Steve (Amy) Czyrka, Jason (Mary) Jones, Jacelyn Jones, and Cristina Czyrka; and great grandchildren, Isabella, Justine, Stevie, Dominic, and Benedict.
Preceding Jennie in death are her parents; husband, Bruno S. Czyrka; son, Bruno R. Czyrka; son-in-law, Lee Jones; and her sister, Evelyn Sierawski.
