

Mildred was a well-rounded woman. She was one of the founding members of the East Bay Calvary Church and has been an active member since. She worked as a licensed psychiatric attendant nurse, for most of her life. She had traveled to Japan, Bermuda, and all over the United States. Mildred was an accomplished seamstress; she made coats for her seven children. She also canned and froze produce that she grew in her garden.
Mildred is survived by her five sons; Paul Reed of Kalkaska, Frederick Reed of TN, Lyle (Windy) Reed of Traverse City, Robert (Sandra) Reed of TX, David (Sally King) Reed of Grawn, daughters Nyama (Bob Davis) Newkirk of Greenville, Edna Reed of Traverse City, step daughter Grace (Lincoln) Kinney of Flint, step son-in-law David Jehnzen of Reed City, 16 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, stepfather John Ahlgrim, husband Ira L. Reed, brother Clare McPhall, sisters Dorothy Hubbell and Nyama Alfreida McPhall, baby sister Edith, and step daughter Iris Jehnzen.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City from 10:30am to noon. The funeral service will be held the same day at noon, following visitation, at Covell Funeral Home. There will be a luncheon following the service at East Bay Calvary Church in Traverse City.
