I first met my mother-in-law back in 1989, when I met the man of my dreams. This quickly turned in to the family of my dreams, which from early on, I knew my mother-in-law was in charge of :)

Back when our relationship first started, she used to drive me crazy! We would occasionally butt-heads because we both had our own opinions, strong willed and were stubborn. But as time went on, our relationship grew stronger and I realized just how much alike we really were. The same things drove us crazy about our husbands, many of the same things irritated us and not to mention the fact that we always wanted our hair to look good!

When I first found out mom had cancer, I, like the rest of the family was devastated. But I also knew that if anyone could beat it, it would be her! What a fighter! Even through her fight, she never wanted to talk about herself. She always wanted to make sure everyone else was taken care of and never wanted any attention drawn to her. She was the best example of a mother, sister, aunt, daughter, grandmother, wife, mother-in-law and friend one could ask for. 

My life will never be the same without her here, but will be forever changed by the love, respect and guidance I received from her. We all know she is finally able to see again, as an angel in heaven and will continue to live on in our hearts and guide us through our daily lives.

We love her so much and I thank her for her relationship, respect and unconditional love that she had given me over the years. I would not be who I am today without her in my life. I love you so much and thank you for being my  mom.

To David and Norma's children I offer my sincerest sympathy over your loss.  I'm not sure if you still remember me, but years ago I was Pastor of St. Francis in TC and you were my parishioners.  

Years have passed and I am now retired and living part time in Florida, thus my delay in finding out about Norma's return home to God.  I do remember that there are certain people who seem to go out of their way to support their Pastor and Norma and David supported me in every way possible.  They were excellent people, outstanding parishioners and very good Christians.

I am certain that Norma heard God speak these words:  "Norma, welcome home.  Welcome to the Kingdom where you will experience joy, happiness and eternal life.  You worked hard, you loved with all your heart, you were a good wife and mother and you loved others as I would love them.  So, Norma, come now into the heavenly Kingdom where I have a special place reserved just for you.  Norma, you are now home where there are no sunsets, but eternal light.  Welcome Home!"

While I know you as family and friends will miss her dearly, nonetheless it is only for a time and the day will come when we will all be joined together through the bond of love which can never be broken.  I too look forward to once again seeing Norma and saying to her what I failed to say here on earth:  "Norma, thank you for your support of me when I was your Pastor.  Thank you for your many kindnesses to me and for your prayers."  May Norma's soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.  Amen.

My Grandma Norma was the best Grandma you could ever ask for! She always made sure everyone had enough to eat or drink, you would never leave grandmas house hungry. I am going to miss going over to her house and talking and getting advice. I am also going to miss having her around for the holidays and her cheesecake was adward winning. She loved going to the casino and drinking coffee and was such a loving grandma, mother and devoted wife to my grandpa. They were the example of true love! Grandma battled cancer for three years and lost her sight and still managed to keep her sense of humour and a smile on her face. She was one of the strongest people I know. I will always remember her sassyness and she would always tell me I reminded her of herself :) I am happy that she is with the lord now and is not sufforing anymore and is with her brother Bob and his wife Mary, Uncle Jonny and her mother and father in heaven. I love you grandma <3  "was blind now I see"

Norma was my best friend, and I loved her very much.  We have been friends since we went to Visitation High School in Detroit.  We lived down the street from each other in Livonia for years and raised our children together.  Although the miles from Livonia to Traverse City separated us, we kept in contact through the years. I will miss her terribly, but she will be with me always. I will pray for her husband and children during this difficult time.  Love, Colleen
