Patricia J. Schlegel

Patricia J. Schlegel, age 70, of Traverse City, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at home after a three year battle with cancer. Pat was born November 13, 1942 to the late Grant and Clara (Carns) Reed of Bear Lake.

She attended Bear Lake Schools where she graduated in 1961. On October 1, 1966 she married Frederick H. Schlegel Formerly of Beulah at Pleasanton Methodist Church.

Her favorite past time was reading books. She liked to cook, sew, spoil her grandkids, write letters, and best of all spend time with her family. She will always be remembered with a smile on her face. She was a homemaker for the last 43 years before being diagnosed with cancer in 2009.

Her husband of 46 years survives, as well as her four children: Darren (Gina), Paul (Sonia), Shawn (Samantha), and Daughter Heather; 16 grandchildren: Ana, Ruben, Emerson, Collin, Kaleb, Trisha, Payton, Hailee, Morgan, Aaron, Devin, Julianna, Alexis, Catelynn, Madelynn, and Cameron; brothers Dennis, Melvin, Dana, Les (kim) and Ken Reed; one sister Alicia (Craig) Bond: one aunt Viola Weatherwax, and family friend Bob, and many nieces and nephews.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, sister Janet and brother-in-law Ron and sister-in-law Norma and infant nephew Aaron.

A celebration of Patricia’s life will be Saturday, May 4th at Grawn United Methodist Church, 1260 West Silver Lake Rd with visitation at 10 a.m. and service at 11. Cremation has taken place and the family is being served by Covell Funeral Home of Traverse City.
