

Paul O. Wilcoxen, 95, of Traverse City passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017. He was born November 1, 1921 in Petoskey to Jay and Rosa (Stradling) Wilcoxen. Paul graduated from Petoskey High school where he played drums for the marching band and the dance band.
Paul enlisted in the US Army and served his country from 1941 to 1945. He was a part of the Army Signal Core during WWII. After his honorable discharge, Paul married the late Audrey June Hills on June 29, 1946. Together they raised four children.
Paul worked for Michigan Bell for 35 years. He was a Master Mason, Shriner and Knights Templar. Paul loved wood working and helping friends with remodeling. His greatest love was the home he built on Long Lake and being on the water with his family.
Paul is survived by his children: Carole L. (Robert) Runyon of Traverse City, James P. (Sonja) Wilcoxen of Traverse City, Donald O. (Deb) Wilcoxen of Traverse City, and Betty R. (Donald) Dice of Lapeer; 10 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife Audrey; brother, James Wilcoxen; grandson, Robbie Runyon, and father and mother-in-law, Herb and Eva Hills.
According to Paul’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service is being planned at Greenwood Cemetery in the spring, where he will be buried next to his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Michigan or the charity of donor’s choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Traverse City.
