

Traverse City: Pauline T. (Harrand) (Lamie) LaBonte, 96, of Traverse City, passed away at Southridge Assisted Living on Sunday, October 15th , 2017. She was the 10th child born to Jacob and Mary Harrand on the Harrand Family farm in Hannah, MI on June 6th, 1921. Pauline was the Valedictorian of the first graduating class of St. Mary’s High School of Hannah in 1939.
She married Louis E. Lamie in 1940 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hannah, MI and shortly after they moved to Detroit. She worked at Ford’s Willow Run B-24 Liberator assembly line as a Riveter (“Rosie the Riveter”). They returned to northern Michigan in 1944 to the Lamie farm on the French Road in Leelanau County. Later, after her youngest son started school, she worked as an Attendant Nurse at the Traverse City State Hospital until retirement. They moved into Traverse City in 1961 to be closer to work.
Pauline and Louis had five (5) sons and one (1) foster-son.
After Louis died from injuries in a 1970 car accident, she remarried in 1972 to Reubin J. LaBonte who passed away in 2007.
Pauline was preceded in death by her son, Patrick M. Lamie; husbands Louis and Reubin , and foster-son, Donald E. Desero. She was also preceded in death by ten (10) of her siblings and spouses: John (Ella) Harrand, Mary (Bill) Bain, Adolph (Myrtle) Harrand, Frank (Julia) Harrand, Rose (Alois) Wurm, Clara (Stan) Wise, Joseph (Audrey) Harrand, Alois (Lucille) Harrand, Alfred (Ethel) Harrand, Ed Lueck (spouse of Catherine) and her sister, Sr. Ann Catherine .
Pauline is survived by her sons: Dr. Edward (Annie) L. Lamie of Hattiesburg, MS; Jerry (Geneva) J. Lamie of Kingsley; Jude (Cinda) T. Lamie of Traverse City; and COL (Ret)Thomas (Julie) F. Lamie of Traverse City, and her sibling, Catherine Lueck.
Also, surviving are step-daughters: Nadine (LaBonte) Cicero of New Jersey; Barbara LaBonte of Traverse City; and Linda LaBonte of Grand Rapids, MI.
Pauline is also survived by 21 Grandchildren, 47 Great Grandchildren, 38 Great- Great grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great-Great grandchildren.
Pauline was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Traverse City and a member of the Women’s Altar Society.
The family gives special thanks to the Southridge Assisted Living Caregivers and Staff. Also, thanks for all assistance provided by Heartland Hospice Service and a special thanks to Hospice Nurse Hannah for being there at Pauline’s passing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary’s of Hannah Catholic Church in Kingsley on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m with visitation 1 hour prior. Viewing and Rosary will take place at Covell Funeral Home of Traverse City on Thursday, October 19, 2107 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lake Leelanau.
