Rhea June von der Hoff "June"

grandmother passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Munson Medical

Center after 90 very active, healthy years of life. At the time of her death,

she was living at The Village at Bay Ridge in Traverse City but spent most

of her adult life living in Interlochen and Gwinn, Michigan. She was born to

George and Eva (Williams) Manchester on September 2, 1925, at her

parents home in Buckley, Michigan. She had three sisters, Glada,

Geraldine and her beloved twin, Reta Jean. All have preceded her in

death. She attended and graduated from school in Buckley. She enjoyed

playing sports growing up and enjoyed singing and family gatherings

throughout her life as family was most important to her. At age 22 she met

the love of her life, Selden Warren von der Hoff and they were married at

the Congregational Church in Buckley on June 6, 1947. He preceded her

in death in 1991. In addition to being a full-time wife and mother, she held

a number of jobs as an adult but most notable cooked in public schools for

many years. In later years she enjoyed volunteering at the hospital and

NMC University Center. At the time of her death she was a member of the

Grant United Methodist Church. June is survived by her children; George

and Donna (Snell) von der Hoff, Interlochen, Sallie and David Donovan,

Traverse City, Selden and Kathy (Richardson) von der Hoff, Springfield,

Virginia and Edward and Donna (Washington) von der Hoff, Hastings,

Michigan. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; Sarah von der Hoff-

Valerio, Bryan Doriot, Joey Turner, Shannon Wheless, Tracy Warren,

Selden von der Hoff III, Justin von der Hoff, Alexa von der Hoff and Connor

von der Hoff, and also 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and

nephews all loved very dearly by June, each holding a special place in her

heart. She will be greatly missed by all The family would also wish to extend

our heartfelt appreciation to all who touched June's life over the years, but especially the dedicated

staffs of Munson Medical Center and the Pavilions, who took such great

care of her in a time of need. A funeral will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. until the time of service.
