Robert Joseph Basar

Robert was born on April 23, 1939 in Detroit, the son of Joseph and Bessie (Koker) Basar. Robert graduated from Cass Tech High School, then received his accounting degree from Wayne State University. In 1959, he was wed to Angeline Ivankovich and raised three children. Robert’s discipline and high standards served him well in the United States Army and later as a very successful CPA. He was man of integrity and a good role model. Robert and his wife Angie managed a TV station for many years before selling it so they could enjoy early retirement. Robert really enjoyed retirement! He spent time hunting, fishing, boating, and traveling all over in his RV.

Robert is survived by his wife, Angie; children, Robert Basar, Pamela Basar, and Bradley (Nikki) Basar; grandchildren, Lauren Pritchard, Benjamin Basar, and Zachary Basar; and his faithful canine companion, Bentley. Robert’s parents preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 2 pm, with visitation starting at 1 pm, at Bay Pointe Community Church- 6880 Secor Road, Traverse City. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to either Big Life Ministries or the American Cancer Society (specifically Pancreatic Cancer).
